Just wanted to let you all know that we will be having a Celebration Of Life for Kenny Shields on Wednesday, Aug. 30th at the Club Regent Event Centre. The doors will be at 7:00pm with the COL beginning at 8:00pm. It is an all ages event for anyone who might be wondering about that.
This event will be taking place the day after our memorial show for Kenny as part the Winnipeg Classic RockFest.
We are so very grateful for all the love and support that has been extended to all the Streetheart family from so many of you across the country. Your support has given us something to lean on during this difficult time.
Our sincere thanks to Kelly Berehulka and everyone at the Club Regent Casino for continuing to display the class and character that they have always shown us over the years.
It will be a most memorable day to celebrate together, the life and times of our dear friend and, one of the truly great icons of the Canadian music industry.
We want to thank each and every one of you for all the kindness, respect and love shown for our dear friend and bandmate Kenny Shields over the weekend and the days leading up to Friday morning’s sad news.
We also want thank everyone in the media from CBC, CTV, all the radio stations/personalities and print sources that featured stories on Kenny’s passing. You all displayed a level of class and caring that we are most grateful for.
A special thank you goes out to all our musical colleagues who extended their condolences and best wishes.
Our sincere gratitude to you all for your support during this time. We know how much it has meant to Kenny’s family and to all of us in the Streetheart family.
Much love to you all… xox.
It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce that our dear friend and bandmate Kenny Shields has passed away quietly and peacefully early this morning at the St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg MB.
By his side were his wife Elena, his daughter Julia and his sister Sharlene.
Our thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at the St. B for all the dignity and comfort that they provided for Kenny and his family throughout this difficult time.
We are most grateful to each and every one of you for all the love, support and hope you have extended towards Kenny and his family over these last few weeks. We know personally how much that meant to Kenny and, that your kindness contributed to his inner peace in the end.
We will keep you all updated as we move forward.
Live your life. Love your life and, enjoy every moment of your life with the ones you love.
RIP our dear brother.
You will be missed.
You will never be forgotten.
Looking forward to seeing many of our friends and fans on Aug 29th. as the members of Streetheart and special guests pay tribute to the legacy of the legendary Kenny Shields. Our sincere thanks for everyone’s continued love and support for Kenny during this time.
I am very sad to report that due to the seriousness of Kenny Shields health issues, we have had to cancel the entire 2017 tour schedule for Kenny Shields and Streetheart.
I shall be as transparent as I can while maintaining a respectful measure of discretion regarding Kenny’s privacy…
Kenny, as some of you may know and many have speculated on, has a very sick heart. In lay terms, he has approximately 20% efficiency on the left side of his heart which has caused his right side to become damaged in an attempt to compensate. This has created a dangerous buildup of fluid in his lungs along with other serious internal issues. If not for emergency surgery on Monday by a group of highly skilled and compassionate physicians at the St. Boniface Hospital and the Victoria General Hospital, Kenny would likely not be with us today.
We are most thankful for all that they did to achieve the best possible outcome in this situation.
Kenny is currently out of grave danger but will be in recovery for some time.
He will no longer be able to fly or endure the physical demands of being on the road and playing live shows which brings us to this difficult end point.
We have been dealing with this for some time now. We were hoping that we could make one last run this year to say goodbye to all our dear friends and fans who have supported us over the last 40 years.
I am sorry that we will not be able to do that now.
I know that you all wish Kenny the very best and I will continue to keep you informed.
I will keep you up to date on Kenny’s progress as best as I can but for now I am just so sorry we can’t be there to share this last summer with you.
Live your life. Love your life and enjoy every moment of it with the ones you love.
Time gets precious when there’s less of it to waste. Jeff Neill xox

Have a great week everyone and we hope to have some new dates to post for you by weeks end! Photo courtesy of Greg Malo.
In celebration of 40 years of R&R we thought we’d share this wonderful photo with you taken backstage at The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver BC, January of 1982. Streetheart was out on tour across Western Canada in support of their best selling “Streetheart” album. The boys were paid a post show visit from their friends Loverboy who were just off the road themselves and riding high on the huge success of “Get Lucky”. L/R in the back row, George Martin, (we don’t know the name of the fellow in this photo next to George), Paul Dean, Ted Ewasiuk, Daryl Gutheil, Jeff Neill and Scott Smith (RIP). In the middle, Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve, Rob Morrow (RIP), Bob Ego and Matthew Frenette. Up front Kenny Shields and Mike Reno hamming it up for the camera! Two great bands, still going strong, connected by a long history and by friendship. Great days and great memories… still being made!
