John Hannah joined Streetheart in 1979 as lead guitarist replacing the departed Paul Dean.
A highly talented veteran of the Western Canadian music scene, John’s skill in his playing, singing and songwriting brought a new burst of energy to Streetheart.
John was with the band when Streetheart received the Juno Award for Most Promising Group in 1979.
John played on some of Streetheart’s most iconic recordings including Streetheart’s classic version of the Rolling Stones’ ‘Under My Thumb’, considered by many to be one of the best remakes of all time.
Unfortunately, John’s battle with health problems and the accumulating stress of life on the road in the early 80’s meant he had to step away from being actively involved with Streetheart as the band continued to move forward.
